Impirium Pistol design (2)
This is another side arm for Impirium, one that maybe looks a bit like a sci-fi Uzi. Like the taser-inspired designs, I wanted this one to be an energy-based weapon, rather than a firearm, hence the business end of it having a closer resemblance to a TV remote than a conventional gun barrel. #Impirium #yelkrabstudios #conceptart #finishedart #weapons #PrimalKhaos #scifi #sketches

Impirium - Boarock Grenade Launcher
Oh, I still have Impirium art to share! This time it's a grenade launcher. I based this on a real design, and went for something that was just functional, and looked like it would deliver a suitable amount of damage. The no-frills idea seemed a good fit for the Boarock race, so I had this in mind as a signature weapon for them. #Impirium #PrimalKhaos #yelkrabstudios #conceptart #sketches #weapons

Impirium Sniper Rifles
This is a whole other class of Impirium weapons, the long distance weapons carried by the Arbalest class. A few of my designs were purely imagined, while some are based more heavily on real-world sniper rifles. This one is kind of a mixture of both. As you can see, the computer model is a pretty streamlined version of my design, which is really interesting to see. #yelkrabstudios #weapons #scifi #gaming #conceptart #sketches #PrimalKhaos

Impirium Pistol design
These are some of the small arms for Impirium. In these research and concept sketches, you can see that some of the designs are based on tasers. The reason for that was that I wanted to get an idea of what a hand-held weapon that didn't rely on bullets would look like. Here's the computer model for this design, which I will always get a kick out of seeing. #Impirium #yelkrabstudios #weapons #conceptart #gaming #scifi #sketches #PrimalKhaos

How I developed the Chordir
As I said on the Impirium page on the site, the Chordir were basically the first race I created in my Impirium designs. I caught onto the distinctive shape of the head of the Hammerhead Shark, so the first thing I did was try out some helmet design, to go over the head of a Hammerhead. From that basic design, I made some class variations, so that there's a standard, marine and sniper, which became Wardens, Cannoneers and Arbalests as the game developed. I wanted to have some

Impirium Shields
There's still plenty of Impirium stuff that I haven't been able to share yet, so here is a whole new area - shields. There were already a few designs ready to go when I started drawing, and I wanted to add a few distinctive shapes. This one was actually supposed to be a practical design, something that protects the body, while leaving an opening for a firearm. These two are designs that were just more visually distinctive, one of which I liked so much you've probably seen it

Impirium - The Chordir
So, hey, first update: the development title of Primal : Khaos has been updated to Impirium! Second, I'm going to be sharing the backstory and designs for some of the races I've created and expanded on in Impirium over the next few weeks, so here, to start, is the Chordir. From an academic journal: Although no species sees itself in the same fashion as they are seen by other races, it is said by many that there is no greater contrast between the self-image of the Chorda and

Primal:Khaos Pulse Rifle
There's quite a few of these designs that I'm really keen to develop. This one I was really happy with. It's based on the gun in the middle on the right, which apparently is an F2000 Assault Rifle. Honestly, as cool as they look, I'm glad my versions are fictional. I had this gun in mind as a weapon for the Rhino-based aliens I designed a while back, who are going to be known as the Boarock from now on. They're a pretty armour-plated race, so I added plates to the F2000, and

Primal:Khaos Armour designs (1)
When I started my Primal:Khaos designs, I I did start off with the helmets before I moved onto armour. I actually asked for some tips from my cousin, Robert Shaer, who's been making games for years. One of them was to make the back of the characters look interesting, as the players will be mainly seeing them from that angle. I was sketching this out at the same time as I was working on the Plasma Launcher, so I thought about incorporating some of the magnetic generators from

Primal:Khaos Plasma Launcher
This was a weapon I designed as a bit of a tribute to a comic favourite of mine: Hardware's Plaser. From the Milestone comic Hardware, this was a weapon built by the lead character Curtis "Hardware" Metcalfe, that generated and contained superheated plasma in a magnetic bottle, and propelled it at a target using a laser. It was intended as a weapon he could only use a few times without burning his suit out, and I loved it. Unlike the railgun, there aren't any real versions of
