Primal:Khaos - Hammerhead Rifle development
Another weapon design, this time for an assault rifle. As you can see from the sketches below, I did a couple of research sketches of real rifles, and then quickly went into some ideas I'd already had kicking around my head. I had used the hammerhead-style design in some of the helmet designs that I've done, and which I am going to be sharing in the future (I don't have images of the 3D models of those yet).
As well as the hammerhead image, the design of this rifle is supposed to evoke a kind of aerial or broadcasting surface (think an inverted satellite dish). Rather than launching projectiles, I definitely envisioned this as an energy weapon of some kind.
Anyway, I love the way I'm able to work doing this all digitally. I was able to take my sketches and put them into Photoshop, and make them a transparent background, and go over the outlines to tidy them up, and... sorry, I just really enjoy this whole digital creation thing. The fluidity it allows, compared to working with pen, paper and ink, and scanning and working with a mouse is just (chef-kiss emoji).
Then, my final design, shaded to show surfaces and highlights. It's a shark gun. A Charcharnicannon.
Heh. I might use that.
And, yeah, the 3-D model from Rob. I'm going to love seeing the next stage from this. Love it.
So, that's this weapon (so far). Subscribe to the newsletter, and follow me on Tumblr, Facebook and/or Twitter so you don't miss the next update!
